Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." Dr. Seuss
I teach a third grade literacy class at a California Title I school.
Our school is in a very high poverty area and does not have many resources. My students are all struggling readers who are trying to pass their reading benchmarks. Most are English language learners from all over the world.
My Project
We need a class set of twenty headphones so my students can utilize the Raz-Kids reading comprehension program on tablet computers. The Raz-Kids program allows students to listen to a story or read one on their own and answer comprehension questions at the end. There are many titles to choose from and my students need the headphones to listen to their stories without distraction from other readers around the room. The headphones will help my students concentrate on what they are reading and enable them to clearly hear pronunciations of words they are having trouble with.
Loss of focus and distractions are big obstacles to learning.
Having headphones for their reading time will help my students overcome those obstacles and get them on the path to becoming better readers. Thank you!
