STEM Project: Worm Compost Bin

My Students

My students are eager learners with limited supplies. They want to explore all the science has to offer, but unfortunately are not able to do so.

My students are a diverse group of learners.

We are in a third grade room, but we have students that are new to this country that speak very little English, and students that are reading at a first grade level. My students are also eager to learn about science and love to have hands-on activities to help them grow as learners.

My Project

My students will be able to see science in a different way. The worms in the WormWatcher will act as a compost bin. By having a compost bin, my students will grow in their understanding of what decomposers are, how they affect nature, and why they are important in our ecosystem. The soil pH meter will allow me to monitor the pH levels in the soil to ensure that the environment that the worms live in is appropriate for their living conditions.

By donating to my students, you are setting them up with a chance to go in their understanding of science.

Too often children grow into adults with a limited understanding of what science is and how it impacts their environment and therefore them. By donating you are giving my students a chance to truly understand how science is all around them and how it impacts the world they live in.
