My Students
My first grade students attend an inner-city school in Southern California. The students live in a low socioeconomic community. Gangs, crime, and violence are commonplace. They receive free breakfast and lunch at school. They are excited to be in first grade and learn new things.
They have unlimited amounts of energy on a daily basis.
We enjoy putting that energy to good use in the form of P.E. I think Tennis Tuesday is their favorite activity. My class largely consists of English Language Learners. This is also true for our school. I would describe our school as a place for educating the whole child.
Our main priority is academics, of course, but in a fun and engaging way. We set high expectations and strive to meet the needs of all students. My school focuses on the 3Rs: Relationship, Rigor, and Relevance. We love our students and only want the best for them.
My Project
Each student has their own iPad in our classroom. A lot of our curriculum takes place online. Receiving these styluses will allow the students to easily access their programs.
When their screens are grimy, the students mistakenly think that their apps are frozen.
In reality, the programs can not receive the students input because of all the dirt and grease from their fingers touching the screens.
The styluses that I am requesting will facilitate the students in reaching their usage goals on the mandated programs. The styluses can also be used in place of paper and pencil activities. Thanks for supporting my classroom!
