This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I still have my best work from first grade saved because it was laminated. Preserved work provides a sense of accomplishment for students who have mastered a difficult task. A lamination machine would provide my students with an opportunity to publish books, take home important work, and showcase!
My students are hard-working first graders who love to read, write, and explore.
We work in a low-income, Title I school in Maryland where students do not generally have a lot of opportunities to celebrate their work. There are 23 students who are proud of the work that they accomplish every day!
My Project
This lamination machine and lamination pouches would allow students to take home their most prized work and potentially save it. We would also be able to display our completed work on the walls without being concerned with tearing and wear. Finally, it would help to protect the items we use every day in class. I am constantly having to find new materials to replace paper center activities because they are folded, ripped, or have general wear. Preserving the centers with lamination would allow me to save resources and time that I need to teach my students.
My students truly enjoy doing independent and group work.
We work hard to take care of our class but there is only so much a 6-year old can do to keep a piece of paper in perfect condition. The lamination machine would help to save their work by publishing it and showcasing it. Finally, I will be able to save time and money -that I need for the students - by protecting the classroom games!
