Help us move into the 21st century with new rhythm instruments. Our current instruments are broken and outdated.
My students are eager to make music in a variety of ways.
My students are talented, kind, caring and strong. Many of my students are still recovering from the devastating tornado that hit our town on May 22, 2011. For them, music is a comforting outlet for creativity and expression. So many of them come alive in the music classroom in a way that isn't seen in the regular classroom.
My Project
I am requesting several different rhythm instruments, including egg shakers, claves, tambourines, bongo drums, maracas, guiros and cymbals. With these instruments, my students will be able to feel the music they will be making. Tapping into as many senses as possible will give my students the energy needed in my music class. We can strike up a rhythm band, and everyone will be included.
My students love having something to hold in their hands in my classroom, and that helps them to feel connected to the music we are making.
With our outdated and broken instruments, sometimes that is not always possible. Playing instruments in music class is something that the students will remember and ask for again and again. Please help us make memorable music with new rhythm instruments.
