Have you ever experienced the pride that comes from making something with your own hands? For our students, that has become a reality with their involvement in the Fashion and Costume Design club!
Our students attend a large, urban public school, in a neighborhood that is extremely diverse.
As a result, our student body is also rich and diverse, bringing together children from different backgrounds, cultures and walks of life. Often, the opportunity to participate in arts-based programs is a privilege denied to many of them, unless they have access to them at school.
My Project
We are requesting basic sewing supplies to continue our club into the next school year. We are in need of two new sewing machines, as well as thread, scissors, pressing tools, pins, and tracing paper. All of these supplies will be used by students to design and make their own designs as well as to create the costumes for the annual school musical. Not only will students learn the valuable skill of using the sewing machine and making their own clothes and accessories, they will also study how fashion affects character by studying costume design.
Our school thrives on being able to offer our students enriching and engaging afterschool experiences.
Often, there is little funding to keep these afterschool activities supplied with what they need for students. With your help, we can ensure that students have an enriching and rewarding experience during their time in the Fashion and Costume Design club.
