My students need manipulatives for our science discovery bags. Items like a tornado weather lab, an anemometer, flower cross-section and other items to foster learning.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
The next scientist is sitting in my classroom! I want to foster and encourage my students' love for science by allowing them time to discover, explore, and observe.
I have 17 energetic, creative, and curious first graders.
They have an enormous appetite for learning. I teach in a small rural farming town. With $500,000 homes in one part of our district, and Section 8 housing in another, economic diversity is the reality in our community.
My Project
Students bring home a science bag filled with books, manipulatives, and tools for discovery. Students are allowed to keep the bag for a week. After they have used the bag, they journal their experience and return the bag.
Currently I have 7 science bags. Each bag has a different topic. (insects, weather, rocks and minerals, magnets, life cycles, plants and oceans) I would like to get more materials to add to these bags to make them more interactive and maximize the learning potential.
With your donation to my project, I will be able to add a tornado weather lab, an anemometer for students to measure the wind speed, an indoor/outdoor digital thermometer, flower cross-section model, a frog life-cycle model, and a life-cycle game.
I hope that this project inspires my students to research, discover, and take ownership over their own learning.
I hope that these bags will help inspire the next great scientist. I also hope to help families feel like they are a part of their child's school experience.
