At our school, it is the top priority of the administration, faculty and staff that students feel safe. Safety, both physical and emotional, is essential for students to learn.
My students are creative, responsible, enthusiastic, respectful, engaged and committed to their learning in and out of the classroom.
Students work together to build healthy relationships with peers and adults such that they can maximize learning while on and off campus. Classrooms are abuzz at all times, but rarely with the chitchat of socializing; students learn by working with one another. On the playground, students can be seen monkeybar-ring with kids from other classes, grades, backgrounds. It truly is a vibrant place to learn and grow.
My Project
Through our Safety First campaign, students will learn the crucial know-how of campus safety. In the event of an earthquake (very likely on the much-feared Hayward Fault which is less than a mile from the school), students will know exactly what and how to respond, care for themselves and others. Our classroom will be the Command Center where the community can gather, seek supplies and support one another. Because these supplies never expire and can be used in any emergency, the community will be prepared for the foreseeable future.
By completing the Safety First campaign, the entire community can rest assured that the students, faculty, staff, administration and even local neighborhood are well prepared to handle the needs of those in need in the case of an earthquake or other emergency.
