Pete the Cat is going to be our class mascot for the coming school year! We will be learning our basic skills through books, music and dramatic play!
Most of my Kindergarten children are from families of poverty, as 87% of our students receive free or reduced lunches.
We even send home snack backpacks with many children to insure they have food to eat during the weekends. My classroom is the one place a child feels safe, secure and unconditionally loved!
My Project
My students need Pete the Cat books and doll. They need an iPod digital player and case. They also need markers for our wipe off boards. Very few of my students have had any type preschool or prior learning experience. They do not have a background rich with books and learning. I must provide them a wide variety of learning tools. Pete the Cat and his books will be a motivating mascot for our room and will make learning fun for my little ones!
After a tornado ripped apart our town last year, I visited many of the homes of my students to determine their needs and safety. After seeing the conditions in which my children live, I am more convinced than ever that a good education is the only chance my children have of escaping the cycle of poverty. I am more determined than ever to provide a safe, caring and loving classroom that offers a literacy rich environment. Please help provide these materials so that my children have a chance to have a successful school year.
Learning should be fun!
I am determined to have a provide a print rich environment for my students that will help them succeed. I want to offer literature and technology so that my children will succeed throughout their school years!
