This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I'm constantly reminding students that it's okay to be confused and frustrated when they're in the process of learning; however, it is not okay to give up simply because it's easier than struggling through the confusion. Knowledge is earned.

We have a beautiful campus with a few recently built rooms and buildings.

But it's truly the people on campus that makes me proud to be part of the school. Of course we deal with typical teen behaviors, such as not wanting to do work, but for the most part, our students are very respectful and our staff members are pretty impressive. There are some very smart people on campus.

My Project

I envision my students checking out a copy of Frankenstein without bemoaning the fact that pages are literally falling out of the book and asking why we can't get books they don't have to tape. This project would also relieve me of reading three different novels at one time because there's not enough of one novel to go around. Frankenstein is a solid classic that teaches students that the text is so much richer in content then the Hollywood interpretation of great literature. It also leads students to question what makes a monster-physical traits or the inner person.

Your donation to this project will do two amazing things.

First, my department chair will not have me constantly requesting for copies of Frankenstein that are not falling apart. Second, after getting to know the author and her work, students will realize that they are able to access the canons.
