This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
“A good library will never be too neat, or too dusty, because somebody will always be in it, taking books off the shelves and staying up late reading them.”
― Lemony Snicket, Horseradish
I am the library media specialist at a public high school.
My school is made up of a variety of races, religions, and cultures. The unifying factor is the desire to learn and grow. Many of my students come from low income families, and therefore do not have the funds to purchase books. My goal is to provide them with the materials that they need in order to achieve their maximum potential.
My Project
My students will be using this book as a required reading for English. Throughout the reading, the students will be assigned various projects to determine their level of understanding and content knowledge. During the fall of this school year, the students that read the book reported that they not only enjoyed this book, but wanted to check out some other Laurie Halse Anderson books.
Having a class set of this book will alleviate the financial stress put on my students to purchase the book.
It would ensure that every student has access to the required reading text.
