Our students love to read, but they also love to be active. As a P.E. teacher I try to get my students as active as possible throughout the day by giving them as many opportunities as possible to be active.
Our school is full of students from all sorts of different backgrounds, but they all love to read and play.
Our school is an IB World School, and we try to be innovators when it comes to new ways for our students to learn. Our school has also received numerous awards for school health and wellness this past year including a Let's Move Active School award and Alliance for a Healthier Generation Bronze award.
My Project
Our students will be using these mini exercise bikes in a class called Read and Ride, which will combine reading and riding a stationary bike. Classes will sign up for times to come to the Read and Ride classroom and spend anywhere from 15-45 minutes reading and riding. Research has shown that the more active children are during the day, the more focused they are. We are trying to give our students the best opportunity to succeed.
These exercise bikes will give our students the ability to be active and still do what they enjoy doing, reading.
These bikes are also very portable so we will be able to use them in P.E. classes as well as use them in the Read and Ride classroom. We already have a classroom ready, we just need bikes!
