Help Mrs. Tusak

My Students

Time for Kids will help my students learn about current events that are taking place in our world.

I have a great group of 5th grade students who are eager to learn!

They live in a low income, urban area and attend a K-6 elementary school. Many of my students have never traveled outside of the state, and are curious about the world they have never seen.

My Project

Time for Kids would be such a wonderful asset to our classroom. We have adopted the Common Core State Standards and having access to current events in our world will help students delve deeper into the curriculum. I have used Weekly Reader in the past with great success. This year I wanted to switch it up a bit and try out Time for Kids. The magazine will not only motivate my students to read, but they will build their reading and writing skills.

The Time for Kids magazine allows students to learn about the world around them.

It broadens their perspective on issues that impact them as well as others. This exposure to current events in 5th grade is essential in preparing the student to be able to live and work within our global world. Time for Kids allows for wonderful discussions about real world events. These discussions then lend themselves to further inquiry or research by the students.
