"It's Alive, It's Alive!" That's right my Pre-K students are becoming scientists! Yet these are not mad scientists, but rad scientists who want to do complex experiments. Unfortunately, we do not have the supplies to meet their excited demand. Help my little Einsteins grow their brains!
My students are avid learners who want to grow their brains and be fully prepared not only for Kindergarten next year, but for the world.
My students come from low economic backgrounds and many have faced difficult challenges in their home lives, yet school provides them a safe and intellectually stimulating environment. They thirst for knowledge and want to prove to the world that no matter what your circumstances are, you can achieve great things. My students are so diverse that it is sometimes difficult to plan activities that will capture all of their attention. However, I have discovered that all of my students, both those who are strong academically and those who struggle with academia, can be engaged and learn through science. I have been able to connect science with my students personal interest, like super heroes. By explaining that science is behind the creation of Iron Man and Spiderman, my students make connections with their own world and school, which has a lasting impact.
Science has been a source of joy and inspiration for my students. They love to do science experiments! They want to do challenging activities that incorporate biology and chemistry, that is why the supplies I am requesting are so essential. We need chemicals, beakers, pre-made experiment sets, and safety goggles in order to keep enhancing our science lessons. Pre-K classrooms come stocked with play dough and crayons, but not beakers and chemicals. I want to teach my students science safely and correctly, and I need these materials to accomplish that goal. Science allows me to easily differentiate my lessons to meet all the needs of my students, both high and low. With the proper science supplies, I can give each student the resources so they can be their own instructors and then help their peers learn as well.
Many students today are disinterested in school and it is difficult to engage them in learning.
However, I have found that Science is the niche, which captivates my class and encourages them to use their brains to the full capacity. In the past twenty years, we have seen, on a global scale, how significant science is to our planet's future and sustainability. Please help strengthen my little Einsteins' passion for science and help them continue to love learning and exploring.
