You wouldn't want to learn with ancient overhead projectors, and neither do my students. Help us catapult our learning into the 21st century!
Our students are fantastic, but they have big hurdles to climb each day.
With a 90% poverty rate, our students come to school missing life experiences many of us take for granted. At the same time, they experience things, many of us couldn't imagine. They are eager to learn and please, but need assistance to stay engaged in the classroom.
My Project
I'm requesting a portable video projector and document camera with stand. This would allow me to project work we are completing together, project student work, and reading resources so everyone can see it. This allows every student, not just those in the front, to see everything we're working on. I can take a student's writing and use it for a model for the whole class. I can use the camera to showcase star students. It allows our learning to be interactive and will allow my students to experience a new kind of education!
To keep them motivated and engaged in their learning, I need to make it as interactive as possible.
At this time, it's very difficult because I have no way for students to see what I'm seeing. We do have overhead projectors, but they are loud, hot, and they don't allow for on-the-spot learning since transparencies have to be used.
