In order to challenge my students to think creatively and actively engage in my medieval curriculum, I have my students create a samurai journal and Aztec codex.
My students attend a large urban middle school.
As is the case with many schools, our budgets have been cut and there are limited resources for supplemental art supplies. It is my hope that this project can provide my students with the necessary materials to construct and create their projects.
My Project
Recreating an Aztec codex and creating a first person samurai journal are projects that my students enjoy. They perform higher in assessments on these units because they are actively engaged while interacting with the curriculum. With the materials in this project, my student will be able to add details and have greater opportunities to construct unique projects.
I am requesting a paper cutter, mat cutter, hole puncher, extended stapler, and pencil sharpeners. I will use the paper cutter and mat cutter to prepare project materials. My students in the construction of their Aztec codices and samurai journals will use the hole puncher and extended stapler. The pencil sharpeners will be used for colored pencils.
The requested materials will be used year after year.
This project will benefit countless students and will allow my students to create memorable projects that positively impacts student learning.
