My Students

Do you remember creating a fun project and being proud that the teacher displays it for all to see? However, that is difficult without paper, a very basic, but essential staple. This project will allow my students to learn through creative activities and projects.

For this school year, I am teaching math and science to two 2nd grade classes at a Title I school in Pennsylvania.

My 2nd grade students come from a variety of backgrounds and struggles. The makeup of these two classes is very diverse. The students are very different in learning abilities and learning styles. They come from different backgrounds and face various challenges. In addition, many of the students are English Language Learners, who need visuals and various projects and activities in order to make connections and understand the content being presented. Even though my students face various challenges, they are a pleasant and hardworking group. They come to school and try their best to be the best student they can be. Because of their perseverance and dedication to their learning, I would like to provide them with different tools, activities, and projects to further their learning.

My Project

With the budget cuts, even paper has become a hot commodity because there just isn't enough to go around. By providing the various types of paper, we will be able to liven up our math and science lessons. In math, we can make analog and digital clocks in order to learn about telling time on the cardstock. In science, we can write a report about the life cycle of mealworms, waxworms, and painted lady butterflies on the lined paper. We can illustrate their life cycles on the copy paper/construction paper, and we can graph their growth on the chart paper. These are just some of the engaging activities the materials in this project will allows us to accomplish.

The materials requested will create a lasting impact on my students.
