Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a bilingual pre-kindergarten classroom in an industrial suburb of Houston. My students are English Language Learners in a Title I school in which more than ninety-five percent of students receive free or reduced-price lunch. I want to help my students develop and grow as much as possible during the time they are in my class.
My students learn best through play and hands-on experiences.
Most importantly my students are delightful and loving people who come to school excited and ready to learn. It is important for me to get them the resources they need to be the best learners they can be. I know that with a little support, my students will thrive.
My Project
In our classroom, we are fortunate to have many hands-on materials. However, we need an additional storage unit to keep us organized. I am requesting a two-shelf storage unit that is just the right height for my pre-k students. We will use the unit to store our math workstations and art supplies. The students will be able to help set up and take down math workstations which will give them responsibility and a sense of pride. In addition, having access to the art supplies will help them develop creativity and independence.
Giving students responsibility helps them learn an important life skill.
This storage unit will be a great asset for my classroom. It will keep things neat and will allow students to be helpful and responsible with our materials.
