Throughout the day students in my classroom are reading. There are a variety of resources available to them, however my avid readers would like more books to read!
Students in my class are sometimes limited by the remoteness of the area we live in.
Many students don't have books at home and they rely on the books in the classroom. Our school provides our students with a lot of resources, however many of the books in the classroom are older and students have read and reread many of the books.
My Project
Many of the books in this project are Newbery Medal and Honor books. I chose these books to captivate student's attention, and create avid readers. Students have a block in their day to read for a minimum of twenty minutes and all the books from this project will be utilized at this time. In addition, students will be able to take these books home to read on a daily basis and other the summer. It is my hope, that my students will become even more familiar with children's literature.
This project will improve the classroom because it will provide our classroom library with more books.
Having a wide range of books to choose from will undoubtedly create more reading opportunities for students. It is my hope that the books in the project will become favorites for my students.
