Imagine drawing in a digital art class with only the track pad of a lap top! This is what my students did last year because we did not have computer mice available. Drawing with a mouse will make their artwork more accurate and enjoyable. It is my hope to give them this simple tool.
My middle school students are from many areas in inner-city Washington DC.
At this age level, these students need to begin cultivating a self confidence in their personal lives and in a skill they can be proud of. I think that technology based art classes are a great way for my students to become disciplined, inspired, and confidant in sharing their ideas. Giving my students something as simple as a computer mouse will improve our digital art class ten fold! They can then set their sights on cultivating their positivity, personal career goals in technology and gain the self-confidence to dream and dream big!
My students each need a computer mouse and mouse pad to help them draw more accurately during their digital art class. My goal is to inspire my students in inner city DC to become comfortable with and inspired by art through technology. Many careers today are based in technology and require a creative thinking mind. I think my students would benefit from exploring the options available to them as a career choice through their art classroom. I am focusing this year on graphic design, typography, photo editing, and how to make attractive presentations. The addition of computer mice to our classroom will benefit my students by allowing them to create and problem solve with more ease.
Working in an inner city school, I see a lot of students who need to build their self- confidence in a positive way and set career goals.
Often the outlets for students to achieve are limited to academics and athletics. With your donations, I can give my students another chance to achieve through the experience of digital art!
