As a child, when you entered into your physical education class, your PE teacher usually already had a net and posts set up to play volleyball. At my school, there are no posts or nets needed to play such a sport.
My students live in a school district that has not had cultural arts (PE, music, art, computers) for 3 years.
They are slowly reintroducing the cultural arts again. I teach at four schools and each school gets one week of every arts class for the month. These students will see us no more than 18 times throughout the year. They are a very diverse population throughout the district. The one thing they all have in common is lack of necessary equipment to learn about sports and sports skills.
My students need a Kit Volleyball Base Fourcourt to learn volleyball. My school has volleyballs but no posts or nets to go with them. The students will use this equipment to learn the sport of volleyball. I can either set up one net or 2 or all 4 to give them a variety of options when learning about this sport. With the gaining popularity of volleyball for both male and female teams in middle school and mostly in high school, it is important that these students come in with a basic understanding of the sport, the skills involved, terminology and how the game is played. This can be used for all elementary grades, K-5.
Students will be able to have more variety of sports and even badminton can be introduced and used as a unit in the future.
We have several rackets but no nets and poles for it. When volleyball was mentioned at 2 of the 4 schools (which are equipped), they were extremely excited about playing the sport. But the other 2 schools, not equipped, miss out. I'm not letting that happen. All of my students are my responsibility and it's my job to make sure my 1200+ students get the same experience.
