Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Every Wednesday, the session begins with physical and vocal warm ups. Then the children start singing, reading their lines.
My school is a high-need school.
We have a high percentage of students whose families are below the poverty line.
Five years ago, we lost our music teacher due to cuts in the budget. Nonetheless, we continue to provide students with a music program through after school choir. At present, we have 38 members (4 boys and 34 girls) from second to the fifth grade. The choir represents the school with several out of school invitations and performances. The students meet every Wednesday after school for an hour and fifteen minutes. Recently, they performed in a holiday concert for three days in school.
My Project
Last November 2014, I received an invitation from the American Young Voices to join in the event on June 4, 2015. This is a large gathering of children's choirs. The concert will be held at IZOD center in Rutherford, NJ. The aim of this activity is to provide a music experience for children that they will benefit from and remember for the rest of their lives.
Young Voices has introduced over one million children to live music in the past 17 years. We believe passionately in inspiring the next generation to find their love for music. All the music is specially selected and arranged to give the children the widest variety of songs to perform. It is also hoped that by providing a diverse range of musical styles, children will learn, enjoy, and gain a greater, fuller understanding of music.

This event is going to bring excitement in the lives of these kids.
They will become part of the largest children’s choir in the world and be actual performers in the show. In the end, they will have a greater appreciation of music.
