This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
All throughout the day, students are engaged in critical thinking. They are tasked with explaining their thinking and critique the thinking of others. Cooperative learning is the hallmark of our classroom.
My students are amazing!
They come to school with such a zest for knowledge. Many of the students that attend my school and the majority of the ones in my classroom are from lower income homes, but when they walk through the doors of my classroom, I want my kids to forget any problems they have outside of the school! I constantly tell my kids that their only responsibility is to be a student! Students take risks, make mistakes and learn from them, work cooperatively with their peers, and give everything their personal best effort!
My Project
Remember how many valuable lessons you learned while playing in recess? Learning through play is a concept that my students wholeheartedly embrace. In our literacy and math stations, students work in groups to solve complex tasks and learn how to share, take turns, and explain their thinking. Students will be able to use math games like The Allowance Game, Multiple Meanings Around the World, and Reading Comprehension to enhance their understanding of time and money and use the literacy games to increase their reading skills!
With your donation towards educational games for our classroom, students will have the chance to utilize their natural curiosity and love of play to enhance their learning in fun and innovative ways!
