Our students are digital natives. They have grown up using computers, phones, cameras, and the Internet, yet we have so little of this technology to offer then for daily use in the classroom. This project would allow every student in my class to engage in 21st Century learning on a DAILY basis.
My middle-schoolers are a diverse group of students that travel from all over Baltimore City to attend our charter school.
Over 80% of my students live below the poverty level, yet they do not let this get in the way of their passion for learning. As a Title-One charter school, we strive to offer our students a unique education through a project-based learning approach to instruction. We allow our students to become community-minded citizens and stewards to the community through engagement with local organizations and services that is built into our curriculum.
My Project
Our school is working hard to provide our students with the most innovative education possible, but we need your help! Currently, we have 30 computers that must be shared by over 200 students! This does not allow our students to use the computers daily, which is what we need in order to help prepare them for careers and higher education.
These Chromebooks would allow our class to become one of the first 1:1 language arts classrooms in Baltimore City. Students would be able to use their Google Apps for Education accounts, complete research, create presentations, and connect with other students all around the world. Better yet-- they could do all of this on a daily basis. Help our classroom lead the way for 21st Century urban education!
Every day my students are able to connect with each other and the world around them is a day that we are successful in learning and teaching.
Help our class be successful every day with the use of these Chromebooks!
