Learning and Making History

My students need a map of the world and the United States, a United States bingo game, social studies flashcards and biography and American history comprehension cards.

My Students

I want my students to do more than read a textbook. I want to engage and excite my children every time they come to my social studies class.

I teach for an urban, Title I school with a high number of students on free and reduced price lunch.

I am responsible for providing sixty, fourth graders their social studies education. My children have so much potential. They just need someone to challenge and provide them with support. Reading and math always get the proper support and resources from the district. However, social studies often gets neglected.

My Project

I am requesting two, large, teaching maps, a United States bingo game, and social studies flashcards. I can use these reference tools when we are learning about countries, states, capitals, landforms, bodies of water, regions, migration patterns, or routes of explorers. In addition, I have requested a variety of history comprehension cards. These cards reference: presidents, explorers, early Americans, the American Revolution, Westward Expansion, the Civil War, and immigration. We will use them for individual, partner and group projects.

My goal is to make sure my children have every opportunity to be successful in mastering our social studies standards as well as starting or continuing a love for history.
