My Students

I teach in a rural community elementary school in northeast Florida. I have an amazing group of students. They all bring different strengths to our classroom. We treat our class as family. The goal of my classroom is to meet every student where they are, and help them grow both academically and socially.

Our county has a 21.4% poverty level.

Our school currently has about 1,200 students. Being a rural community, we only have one elementary school that serves the entire county.

My Project

I am trying to foster a love for reading in my students. We need a microphone to read aloud in class, so everyone can hear us loud and clear. We need magnetic bookmarks to mark our pages in chapter books. The gummy worms will allow us to have bookworm incentives. The finger flashlights will be used on "Flashlight Fridays" for independent reading time. I am excited to introduce all of these items in our classroom and get my students ready to read.

I want my students to be excited about reading.

I want them to feel that reading is not a chore, but that it is exciting and fun!
