Do you know what is in a single drop of ocean water? Sea water is teeming with life and my students want to learn about these microscopic critters.
My students are very bright and creative.
My students are very diverse and they represent every part of our city. They ride a bus for over an hour each direction just to be a part of our digital media magnet program. My students are eager to learn and that inspires me to reach new heights with the quality of my lessons.
My Project
My students will be able to study planktonic life forms and learn about their contribution to the planet through the production of oxygen. They can learn about the tools that scientist use and how to collect plankton samples for their own life studies.
Even though plankton is important for the food chain and for oxygen production, I am most excited about my students ability to walk out to the ocean and collect the plankton sample themselves.
This hands-on/field studies approach to learning could encourage any one of my students to pursue a career in a field science like biology or marine biology.
