My students need a new rug to start the new school year. My class size is big and having a space for every child to sit will make them feel welcome when entering my room.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Do you remember when you went to school for the first time? It was overwhelming and kind of scary. My kindergarten students feel the same way. They are nervous about leaving mom or dad, meeting a new teacher, and making new friends.
I teach in a Title I public school with 95% receiving free and reduced lunch.
Many of my students are from poverty stricken homes. I have the sweetest students who come to school wanting to learn. They enjoy each and every opportunity that I am able to give them, which can include exposing them to various opportunities and experiences that they have never had before.
It can also be very overwhelming to them because they are learning to share a "space" with others and some of them have never had to do this before.
My Project
I'm requesting a large rug area that is able to seat up to 30 students. My class size fluctuates between 22-27 students each year and I want to be able to accommodate all of my students. Providing them with an area that is their "own" will allow for them to have a sense of ownership and pride within the classroom.
I have been using mats and/or masking tape to provide this area for them, but many times the masking tape only lasts for about a month, and the mats are just too big for the area that I will use the rug in.
By having this rug in the classroom, it will provide just the right amount of space for each student to feel comfortable and not too close to one another.
Your donation toward my project will allow my students to be able to have a "spot" to call their own in the classroom.
With a class size that can range from big to large, it is hard for students to make a claim on their own space. This rug will provide just the right amount of space for each student and make our room much more inviting than masking tape on the carpet.
