Last year, I created new and exciting curriculum for the iPads including Stop Motion Animation for 5th grade, Storytelling Movie Making with 6th grade, Rotoscoping with 7th graders and Blogging our Andy Goldsworthy projects with 8th graders. This year, we need iPads so we may do these new units!
The students at our public school are very creative!
They surprise me every day. They need art and technology to help with problem solving skills and to help express themselves. These attributes are key to their future. We live in a cultural diverse area that is dependent on the arts. Tourism and the arts help drive our economy. The community will depend on the skills they learning in art class in the future.
My Project
I am requesting 2 iPads and 2 cases. In addition to the new curriculum, Stop Motion Animation for 5th grade, Storytelling Movie Making with 6th grade, Rotoscoping with 7th graders and Blogging our Andy Goldsworthy projects with 8th graders, there will be many more opportunities to use the new iPads this year. There are several art history apps I have been learning as well as more photo editing apps. The students can also use the iPads to look up images for reference and use the cameras on the iPads. I will continue to develop new, engaging and relevant curriculum for the iPads.
This year, the art room has 1 less iPad.
We have 3 iPads and the 5th and 6th grade classes are large. We have 24-26 students a class. To divide a 26 student class into 3 groups to share 3 iPads will not be feasible. If we do not receive funding, the new curriculum will not take place this year. This will be detrimental to the students as learning to use new technologies is imperative to their future. Although some students may use technology in other aspects of their lives, we all need it in art.
