This year I will have 25 precious students in my 1st grade classroom. Those students are coming to me in a rural, low income area. All 25 of these students will have different needs as learners. I want to be able to meet those needs by incorporating the use of technology into our daily routine.
We are located in a very rural, low income area where resources and technology are limited.
I'm working with a group of students who all have different needs and are learning at different levels and paces.
The majority of my students do not have access to technology at home and our technology at school is very limited. The use of iPads in our classroom will help build twenty-first century skills that our children will need in order to be successful and thrive in the quickly evolving, technical world that we live in.
Using iPads in our classroom will allow students access to some amazing educational apps. These educational apps will help reinforce key skills and concepts, as well as the common core standards that our students are required to learn. The use of iPads will also help me differentiate my instruction for my students. iPads will enable a higher level of learning for advanced students as well as help those students who struggle and need extra support.
My Project
We will use the iPads each day during stations/centers that will take place during our literacy and math times. During this time students work in small groups. The iPads will be one of our stations that students will rotate and work in. Students will be working on apps that are geared toward their level and ability, as well as educational apps that will coincide with whatever skills/standards we are covering at that time in class. I want my students to be successful and have a love of learning. The use of technology in the classroom will help my students tremendously and in so many ways. When students use the iPads they will not even realize they are learning or working because they will be having so much "fun" using the educational apps. I can't wait to see their little faces get excited about learning with the use of technology.

My students are all different, special, and unique. These students also all have different learning abilities and needs. I want to be able to offer them a good, quality education with a variety of resources and tools. The iPads will help me meet the needs of each student. I know the use of iPads will help us evolve as learners and be an asset to our classroom not only this year, but for many years to come.
