Help me accommodate every student by funding my project! I work at a Title I school in a very special classroom that is close to my heart in Baltimore, MD. This year, I am teaching a fourth and fifth grade self contained class
My students are all part of a district wide PRIDE program.
This is a program that strictly works with students who are diagnosed with severe emotional disabilities and oppositional defiance. That being said, the students that I work with on a daily basis are pulled out of the general education environment as often times their disabilities are too severe in the regular education environment. Our goals for these students are however held at the same expectation for the general education students. Many of my students are sensory learners, some are also language deficit, and all of them are performing at levels below their grade level expectations. It is my goal to help accommodate and work with every student to maximize their potential by utilizing different teaching styles and techniques to deliver instruction and embed multi-faceted practice into my multi-grade classroom.
I am requesting an iPad and an iPad mini for the classroom to aid small group differentiation and instruction for the reasons listed below. 1.) iPads are well researched and proven to have a beneficial impact on students, especially those diagnosed with emotional disorders or other intellectual disabilities such as Autism, Learning Disabilities, ADHD, etc. They help to "equal the playing field" and give students with disabilities aids to progress. 2.) There are apps and educational programs that are easily accessible on an iPad that can be synced with a teacher's iPad or computer to ensure well managed and instructionally sound practice and educational games as incentives. 3.) In the end, these iPads can promote 21st century thinking and computer skills necessary to further their long term educational goals in today's day and age. 4.) iPads are fun! iPads are exciting! iPads are incentive enough to promote learning in a classroom of fourth and fifth graders
In the end, I would like to ask you all to simply review my project as my students mean the world to me and the school.
With your help, I can better address each and every one of my students' instructional and behavioral needs. I hope that we can work together to "better the playing fields" and give these students of mine the accessibility to learning tools they need! Thank you.
