Do you remember what it was like when we did not have an abundance of technology in our lives? For my students this is what life is like. For many the only opportunity they have to use a computer, laptop, iPad, or iPod is in school.
My students are learning English as a second language.
Most are immigrants or children of immigrants, that are eagerly learning English as they attend their local elementary school, a Title I school, for the first time. They are high poverty students who have very little access to technology. I want to change that by giving them an opportunity to use technology on a daily basis. I want to integrate this iPad mini into my classroom to change their learning experience.
My Project
If we receive the iPad mini my students will be able to use it to reinforce the reading skills they are learning by reading & listening to e-books. They will also use them to play phonics & academic games. Finally, I will also integrate the iPad mini into my instruction to further enhance their English learning experience. I feel this will give my students more confidence & help them to be more successful in their academic life.
I feel this project can make a big impact on the way my students experience school.
So much of our lives now involves technology that I feel my students are at a disadvantage for not having this opportunity. If we receive an iPad mini I feel we can begin to change a small part of these children's lives.
