We love technology! Help me keep my students motivated and engaged while they demonstrate their understanding of various topics by utilizing iPod touch technology. They can take pictures, audio record, video record and so much more! What a great way for them to show what they've learned.
I teach a wonderful multicultural group of first graders.
Most of them live in poverty and several are refugees from war-torn and poverty stricken countries. Although they come from many places and speak many different languages, they all have the adorable characteristics of this age: missing teeth, excitement about the world around them, and a huge capacity to learn.
My Project
These iPod touches will be used throughout the day in just about every subject.
Here are some of the ways I plan to use them: listening to audiobooks, reading interactive books or e-books, reading fluency recording, phonics and letter learning apps, spelling city app, many different math apps, story building apps, PBS kids, music, drawing, science discovery, learning about the U.S. symbols for social studies, and much more.
The most exciting use is having the students use the video and camera features to present what they have learned. They can teach other students what they have learned by making videos and using apps such as educreations to demonstrate and share their new knowledge.
These iPods will give students an opportunity to use technology that many of them have not been exposed to.
The future ahead of us is one full of emerging technological advances. Students should learn how to work with technology from the very beginning.
The iPods will be utilized in almost every subject in the classroom to support student learning and to show student understanding of concepts. Thanks for your consideration in funding this project.
