My Students
Invent to learn, learn to invent. Our library Makerspace is a place for students to dream, create, to take risks, and innovate. With the right tools, the possibilities are limitless.
Our students come from rural Northern California.
Many of them come from low income families and qualify for free and reduced priced lunch. A donation to this project will help my students to focus, become more engaged, and want to be a part of the conversation. Therefore, my students will become a part of our community, making a change for the better.
My Project
We are looking to help our students develop creativity, confidence, innovation, and team work by providing hands-on activities in Science Technology Engineering Art and Mathematics (STEAM) in our library. We have created a library Makerspace to provide a place for students to tinker during the school day. We began a Makerspace in our library this year with bins of LEGOs and a revolving art display and it has been incredibly popular. We want to expand on this by developing a space for students to explore coding and robotics.
Exposing students to hands-on STEAM activities will engage them in exploring, discovering and learning and will help to ensure their success in the future.
Getting to make and create will transform our students from consumers of things into makers of things and will foster their sense of creativity. By giving our students a chance to tinker with Mindstorms robots, we can prepare them to be the engineers, inventors and scientists of the 21st Century.
