My Students

In my community, basketball is a huge part of daily lives and learning through physical education. These resources will give students an opportunity to learn the game the correct way. Practice makes perfect."Good, better, best. Never let it rest. Until your good is better and your better is best."

My students are a collection of learners streaming from very diverse and unique backgrounds.

Often times sports are a great ambassador for bringing our students together and teaching them valuable life lessons. The school community I work in is a group of hard working individuals all united to to achieve goals and follow dreams. My school is also socioeconomically challenged. Resources are scarce, but desire to grow through athletics is not. Students are enthusiastic about athletics, especially the game of basketball. Most students come to our school with little knowledge, skill, and background in basketball. Learning basketball skill is a huge component of helping them grow and learn as individuals and as part of a team.

My Project

I have a great opportunity to teach young athletes skills and lessons they can use now and for their futures. I envision these resources being used to teach fundamental basketball skills that they will be able to apply to game and fitness situations. Students will be able to use the eye blockers to learn how to dribble with their eyes up. This is a vital component to ball handling in basketball. The skill coach basketballs will be an important tool for teaching students hand placement while they practice shooting. In addition, the ball returners will allow student maximum repetitions for shooting practice. Students will be able to use the pennies to scrimmage in game like situations. All tools/supplies will allow students to learn important basketball skills faster and more efficiently.

These donations will give our classroom necessary supplies that we do not currently have the opportunity to use.

These supplies will give my students opportunity to have success in the classroom. Students who find success in sports often continue to play the sport in the future for both enjoyment and for fitness. I believe in giving students the best possible chance to find an activity they enjoy so that they will always have a tool to improve fitness.
