Somewhere along the way, you were probably taught how to take notes, how to keep up with those notes, and how to stay organized. One of the key values in my classroom is "Organization" and my students need binders, dividers and paper so they can learn how to stay organized through a science binder!
As I enter my third year teaching seventh grade, I've gotten to know the students in my school and my community.
In general, seventh graders are energetic, excited and eager to learn. I have realized over the past two years though that my students are lacking in their ability to stay organized which could hinder them later on in their education and in their lives.
This past year, I had my students keep a binder just for our science class that included all their bell work, guided notes, and classwork. It was incredible to see how much they learned in terms of staying organized. They could find their notes from an old unit and keep track of past notes. I am hoping to have binders for my new students again so that they too can learn how to be organized in school!
It is incredibly important for students to be able to stay organized with their schoolwork but I have realized over the past two years that they will not that unless someone teaches them!
With science binders, I can teach my students the skill of being organized that will stick with them!
