This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students love to read, but many do not have their own books at home. They get excited each week when they are able to pick out a book from the library media center to take home with them.
Our elementary school is located in a low income, multicultural suburban community.
Currently 90% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. The entire student population of 400 visits my library media center each week. This project will impact every student in the school since the books requested cover all reading abilities. Students will be able to improve their reading skills while enjoying these high interest books.
My Project
Due to shrinking budgets, it is a challenge to fill the library with enough high interest books for my students. They love reading graphic novels, but the current collection is geared towards pre-emergent readers, leaving my older students unmotivated and unchallenged. The high interest, exciting graphic novels like Squish, Dragonbreath, and DK Readers which I requested will help foster a love of reading and learning in my students, especially my reluctant readers.
With your help, my students will have access to new and exciting graphic novels written at their reading level.
They would value and enjoy these books greatly. By donating to this project, you will help foster a love of reading and learning in my students.
