Help Curious Kinders Find The Scientist Inside Each of Them

My students need bug viewers, a butterfly garden, sensory tubes and other hands on science materials to help teach S.T.E.M. concepts to our budding scientists.

Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My kindergarten students are naturally curious. Always looking and asking questions about bugs and other wonderful things they find every recess. Science is an area our district has identified needs more attention to help raise test scores so more science materials would be very helpful

Our neighborhood has had a challenging time this past year with the protesting and riots surrounding one police incident.

I am proud of our integrated school community and the families who work hard to provide for their children. Our class is a very active and talkative bunch! Keeping their hands and minds busy is always a challenge without the needed materials which keep them engaged.

My Project

The students will conduct science experiments as well as observe and interact with nature using the bug viewers, sensory tubes and other materials. The butterfly garden teaches them the process of metamorphosis. They are always very excited to watch them transform.

Providing these materials will enhance our science program and show my 5 year olds that a scientist is not something you have to wait to grow up to become, but you are one right now!!

My hope is to ignite a love of science that stays with them so they will always hold onto a bit of the curiosity they have now as 5 year olds.
