Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Every minute my students are at school is an opportunity to learn something new. Please help us make our recess minutes count with outdoor equipment!
After Katrina hit New Orleans, the city started to come back with a population more diverse than ever before.
In our kindergarten classroom, I have children born from the Central American immigrants who came to work and restore the city to its original condition.
I have 27 students, all with different levels of English and all from families who work very hard but still struggle to make ends meet. 96% of my students receive free or reduced price lunch.
My Project
After a long day of learning, my kids need a break. While we are lucky enough to be at a school that allows recess, our outdoor equipment is lacking. The cones, hula hoops, jump ropes and playground balls included in the Active Play Kit will give us the opportunity to use this time to develop our muscle strength, coordination, and flexibility. In addition to working on our gross motor skills, we can use the set of soccer balls and basketballs to help us practice playing and working together as a team.
Research has shown that children who play outdoors regularly are happier, healthier, and stronger; however, just playing tag is not enough.
Differentiated active play with the materials I am requesting will make us better athletes and scholars!
