Education is learning what you didn't even know you didn't know. -Daniel J. Boorstin
Our high school is a very small public high school in the downtown Brooklyn area of NYC.
My students are a high energy positive group of students that would like to learn how to properly pronounce words in the English language and to have access to grade level and college level texts in the classroom
My students love to use computers and apps on their computers to help them engage with text. New technology allows for text to be read aloud to students as they work. The problem with my class is that students don't have headphones. When students try to have text read aloud for them from the computer the noise in the classroom creates confusion. The headphones will allow students to have access to the text without creating background noise. The iPad will allow for me to meet lower level students' needs through quick translations and visuals for better learning.
Your donations will allow for my students to engage with the classroom material first hand.
It will also allow them to become better learners of the English language by developing better pronunciation. Inaccessible text will be something that my lower level students can conquer!
