Imagine having to teach a lesson but there are not enough materials for all the students.
My students are sweet and eager to learn.
They attend a Title 1 school in North Carolina. My students may not come from the best homes so school is a comforting environment to them. The students thrive on being loved and knowing that others care about them.
Having a class set of hands-on fraction learning kits will truly engage students. It is hard to teach a lesson and not have enough materials for each student. When students are able to have hands-on experience their learning is made more personable and they enjoy it more. Students will be able to understand the concept of fractions better by being able to explore and manipulate the fraction pieces. Also, by having 2 magnetic word building boards, students will be able to work in small groups with the teacher or the teacher assistant and build key spelling words. They will have the opportunity to learn words and increase their reading vocabulary.
This project is very important because it will provide learning opportunities for all students.
Each student will have a chance to participate in hands-on learning. Several studies have shown that students who have physical contact with their learning retain the skills. These fraction kits will the students retain what they have learned.
