My Students

"Think! Think and wonder. Wonder and think. How much water can 55 elephants drink?" (Dr. Seuss). My goal as an educator is to foster a lifelong love of learning. Helping my third grade scientists use the process of scientific investigation safely will help achieve that goal.

My amazing third graders are curious and creative thinkers who are eager to learn.

Our large urban district has limited funding and resources. Many of the children are from single parent families struggling to make ends meet in these trying economic times. Despite these challenges, my third graders demonstrate a zing for learning and participate actively in the classroom every day. School is their opportunity to follow a successful path to the future.

My Project

The materials requested will help my amazing third graders practice basic science safety procedures in our classroom "laboratory." Students need to develop an awareness of appropriate safety measures and the use of safety equipment when conducting investigations in the lab, classroom and at home. By utilizing safe lab practices, students not only avoid injury now, but they will also be better prepared for lab experiences in upper level classes.

The students will be excited to wear safety goggles during experiments.

We have read and discussed safety rules and equipment for the science "laboratory" in our classroom. However, equipment is limited, so we always have to borrow resources from the upper grades. It would be wonderful if we had our own "Goggles Galore!"
