I am the K-12 art teacher at a rural school in Missouri. My students are enthusiastic and excited about art projects every time I see them and we have so much fun. For some of these kiddos my class is the only time they get to paint, color with markers and be creative. Creativity is so important in learning problem-solving skills. I love to sit at the tables and color, draw or paint with my students while visiting with them about their day. They have so many fun things to tell me about what they have done and want to do with their lives.
My Project
Centers in the Art room can help solve problems while gaining skills in communication, collaboration, critical-thinking skills, and creativity. These engineering items would allow us to be creative in a different way at least once a week by building, constructing and problem solving together in small groups.
Each student would be able to construct and be creative using Legos, tinker toys, Lincoln logs and other constructive toys.
Students will be able create a drawing and turn it into something 3 dimensional going through the entire planning process on their own.
