Keeping students engaged during classwork can be a challenge! Students with extra energy can find sitting still during class time a challenge; wiggle seats allow them to move while maintaining focus!
My students are the sweetest kids you'll ever meet.
They come from all walks of life: mid income to low income, US born parents to immigrant parents, traditional family units to not so traditional family units. Because each one of my students is so unique, I have to find unique ways to keep them engaged. I know some students come with extra energy, making class time a challenge. By providing my students a "wiggle outlet", they can move in their seat while paying attention to whole group and small group lessons!
My Project
A lot is expected of my 4th grade students. Toward the end of the year, they've got to show what they know on a four hour long state math test. Paying attention to whole group lessons, small group lessons, problem solving strategies and group work is essential to my students' learning. This can be difficult for students with extra energy! My "wigglers" are sweet kids that can't stay still so they tap their pencil, play with their paper, pick at their desk (or nose), and get up out of their seat during instruction. This is distracting for them, other students, and teachers. By giving these students a "wiggle seat", they can move slightly in their chair, answering their bodies craving for movement without the added distraction. Their concentration is then put into the work rather than the movement their body needs!
Your donation to my project will make a memorable difference in my class.
If my students know it's OK to move and that they'll have an outlet for their movement, I truly believe their engagement level will skyrocket! This small solution will make a huge impact to my amazing students!
