A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Do you remember the first time you created something that others would see and gain enjoyment or information from? My students will be facing many objectives this year where the visual language of Art will say more than words.
My students come from a Southwest Missouri community that is limited by an economics situation that does not allow them a lot of time to explore the world of Art.
However, this past year some have turned to art when dealing with the F5 tornado that has changed their community. The middle school they attend is considered low income but the students thrive through their involvement in school and their community.
My Project
The canvases, paint, and brushes will allow the students an outlet to explore and express their ideas and feelings dealing with everyday life events and the aftermath of the F5 tornado. The students will be creating a mural basis on their visual definition of the key words duty, honor, peace, and pride. When the mural is completed, it will be displayed in a main area of the school for the school and public to view. This will be the second year for this successful mural project.
A gift to this project will allows students to get their hands dirty and to express and explore materials that would otherwise not be available.
It will also allow this successful project to continue for a second year. This experience with paint and canvas will also allow the students a creative escape from the aftermath of the recent natural events and continue to grow from this opportunity.
