Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
"Curiosity is one of the most permanent and certain characteristics of a vigorous intellect", Samuel Jackson once said. What better way to spark this inquisitiveness than to open new worlds and possibilities through literature? The only problem - we need books!
My students are second grade scholars on a mission to be biliterate.
As the majority of my students come from a low socioeconomic background and are Spanish-dominant, literature at home is scarce. Providing meaningful texts in both English and Spanish will allow for better language development - and spark a greater curiosity to learn.
My Project
Second grade will be the first year in which my students receive formal English language instruction. I plan to provide my students with easily accessible texts in both English and Spanish. Did I mention our class theme is curiosity (hence the Curious George books)?
By being bilingual + biliterate + bicultural + CURIOUS, my second graders will be on the path to success.
Through these texts, they will gain a passion for reading. Thank you for your generosity.
