My Kindergarten classroom is full of imaginative, creative explorers waiting to gain everyday social, emotional and academic skills and knowledge. Every day I strive to instill the drive for learning in every one of my students.
My classroom is diverse in cultures and learning abilities.
Each one of my students has individual needs that need to be met on higher levels. My classroom is an EC-K classroom that includes both regular education students and regular education students. In order to meet the modifications and accommodations needed for each student, I strive to create a classroom that is warm, inviting, creative and full of opportunities to discover new things each day. My passion for my students continues to grow each day and because of this, my students feel loved and accepted.
My Project
The students in my classroom will be able to gain higher literacy skills through the hands-on manipulatives that I am requesting. Students will be able to learn on a personal level through the diverse activities and lessons that these manipulatives will allow me to create. The materials include tactile alphabet letters, alphabet magnets, sight word building activities, dry erase letter and sound activities as well as other hands-on literacy materials that will allow students with different learning styles to gain a better understanding of how letters form words that we use to read and write with.
All of the alphabet center activities make learning fun and therefore will intrigue each student to want to learn through play. We do literacy centers on a daily basis and therefore, while I work with small groups on guided reading, students can stay engaged in independent centers with these activities that will heighten letter and sound knowledge and identification.
The items that I am requesting will improve my classroom by allowing me to create activities and lessons that will encourage creativity and imagination.
Children in Kindergarten learn to the best of their knowledge when given materials that they can touch and manipulate. Students will also gain independence while learning with these age appropriate learning activities.
