This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Every day we start with a motivational chant to start fresh. I allow my students to get up, get moving, and get excited about learning.
My students are 8th graders from a low income district in North Carolina.
They often enjoy my math class, however, they are very challenged when it comes to the content, therefore, I try to make the learning environment very interactive to get them excited about learning math. They have dreams of becoming doctors, lawyers, engineers, and so much more, even professional athletes. They attend school with a staff that is very inspirational, motivational, and very innovative in their approach to teaching.
My Project
My students need supplies such as Dry Erase Markers, two classpacks of RoseArt Washable Markers, 90 glue sticks, two classpacks of pencils and two Math Vocabulary Words Borders to help us continue to have an interactive class to maximize their learning in my 8th grade math class. We would use the materials to create a very colorful learning environment complete with foldables, student centered posters, creative student made games, and other activities. They will collaborate on most of the activities during station teaching and they will be allowed time to peer tutor, trade and grade in their work, and assume roles of the teacher for application of all math skills.
These donations are necessary because we use a lot of materials, and we run out of them throughout the course of the year.
Students are given tasks to create a learning space they take ownership in and are proud of.
