My students live in a bleak and depressed area. Their world can be a scary place. We work to overcome that lack of cheer with our daily art projects! Art covers our classroom and hallway and provides a place of color and safety for my students!
I currently have 16 students in my classroom.
Our school is located in the largest public housing project in the city. 100% of our students receive free lunch. 85% of the students have no father figure or male role model in my life. My students come to school every day with a smile and an energy for learning that is contagious! They love our classroom. They love learning new things. They love creating art. And they love each other. We are a family of learners and a family of artists!
I am requesting construction paper, glue and glitter for my students to use to create art. Every day in our classroom ends with the creation of an art project. We call these our "craftivities!" These projects are tied to books we have read, letters we have learned or a holiday we have celebrated. These projects build my students esteem. These projects build listening skills. These projects build fine motor skills. These projects build a desire and love of art and imagination in my students. The materials that I'm requesting will provide us with materials to continue creating art that decorates our world of learning and creativity!
These art materials will be placed in the hands of 16 deserving students who will use these basic materials to create things of beauty.
These materials will bring color and cheer to their depressed world. These materials will bring creativity to our delay learning and will bring a smile to my amazing students!
