"The purest and most thoughtful minds are those which love color the most."~ John Ruskin\ My students come from underprivileged families. Some of my kids live in shelters. As a Title I school, we often need to provide basic school items to our dear students. Yet, they are hardworking and kind kids. I asked my student, "What is your strength, what are you good at doing and what do you love to do?" My dear child said, "I love art, I love to color." "What about Math, Science, English?" "No, Ms. D, I have to do those, but I love to color!" How can one not appreciate his honesty? How can a teacher, not use that basic way of learning? Learning through using color and imagination is the best way to learn! My students are all language disabled, some are learning disabled. They tend to learn language through multi-sensory approach. Part of this approach is using colors to highlight words.
In our classroom we use markers each day.
We adorn our classroom with imagination centers. We write stories, illustrate pictures using crayons, markers and other art supplies and then put them on the wall for everyone to see. We use markers for our following directives activities where children help Brannon Bear follow directives as he goes through the year learning key words that will help them read Common Core curriculum directives. These skills help children in their classrooms.
These wonderful arts and crafts supplies will be used to inspire creativity. They would ignite imagination encouraging them to write about what they draw. They will use these markers, stampers, and dot painters every day. We will use them to make improvements in their receptive as well as expressive language skills. Please donate to my students; make their world a colorful place it should be when one is a kid.
This projects will make a difference to my students because they will use them throughout the year to learn skills they need to further their education.
Please help me make their world exciting place to learn and grow.
